Catalyst Begins Design Work on Earthbag Custom Home in Prescott

Catalyst Architecture has been retained to design a 1,500 sq.ft. house for an artist couple on a wooded lot to the west of Prescott. Several alternative methods of construction have been considered, ranging from shipping containers to straw bale to rammed earth.

After participating in a workshop at the Cal-Earth Institute, the super adobe, or earth bag construction technique was finally selected, in part, due to its fire resistance and fluidity of design.
